Project Overview

In partnership with Balfour Beatty Communities, Opterra provided turnkey energy and water efficiency improvements to over 1,000 homes for military families at Fort Eustis and Fort Story.

Energy Assessment and Strategy

The project began with an evaluation of the residential energy and water usage. Opterra recommended a range of upgrades to enhance efficiency and sustainability. This modernization program improves infrastructure resiliency and enhances the quality of living for residents.

Implementation and Funding

The upgrades were financed through a self-funding Energy Savings Performance Contract. The project included 77,000 energy-efficient lighting and fixture upgrades, 475 high-efficiency heat pump systems, 995 smart home thermostats, and water conservation fixtures.
